Graveslab in Limerick City,englishtown stands out because it is still visible inside St. Mary's Cathedral. A rectangular limestone slab, long enough to cover a body and narrow enough to fit a cathedral wall, carries a Gothic lettered inscription from the 16th century. It is set under the leper squint in the north transept, where shadow, prayer and exclusion may have crossed. The chamber still holds its shape, and the chamber is the interesting part.
