What is recorded here

Graveslab in Leixlip church wears a broken-circle cross and round knop, reused as a first-floor lintel in the 15th century tower. What is recorded is a rectangular slab at least 0.77m long, 0.2m wide and 0.18m thick, decorated in low relief with a cross-stem. Whether it marked a grave, a threshold or a forgotten chamber is no longer certain.
In the 15th century tower at Leixlip church (KD011-004003-) where it is reused as a doorway lintel at first-floor level. A rectangular slab (dims. min. L 0.77m; Wth 0.2m; T 0.18m) is decorated in low relief with a cross consisting of two broken circles, an expanded rectangular knop with round terminal and a cross-stem. A medieval Christian gravestone; reused in a later structure, it indicates the presence of early Christian burial practices in the area.
