Graveslab in Killeely More

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Killeely More, County Galway. A flat stone, perhaps, lying under grass or bracken, marking a body buried before records began. The land remembers what archives forget. Someone laid that stone by hand, aligned it to the earth, and walked away into the ordinary world. The dead stayed behind, holding the shape of the living in their minds.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
