Graveslab in Gardens (kilkenny City By., St. Mary’s Par.) preserves a chamfered limestone fragment bearing an incised cross and two lobes that may form a trefoil or fleur-de-lis. It lies within St Francis' Abbey, where a broken edge and partial decoration suggest a larger memorial now lost. The surviving shape invites imagination about the person honoured, the craftsman who cut it, and the moment it was buried or displaced.

In St Francis' Abbey (KK019-026101-). A portion of a limestone graveslab (L 0.65m; Wth 0.42m; D 0.1m) with only one side, which is chamfered (Wth 0.05m), surviving. It is decorated with an incised cross. Only portion of the cross-shaft and two lobes of a possible trefoil survive. The latter may be terminating the cross-shaft or may be the lowest fleur-de-lis on the cross-head. This fragment is described by Bradley (1980, 14, no. 48). Compiled by: Jean Farrelly
