Graveslab in Gardens (kilkenny City By., St. Mary’s Par.) is a 13th/14th-century graveslab reused as the northernmost lintel in the N ground floor passage of the crossing-tower at St Francis' Abbey (KK019-026101-), Kilkenny. Only its upper surface and dexter side remain visible, bearing a false-relief cross with a four-lobed head, cross-arms, raised shaft and trefoil terminals. What is clear is that a dead person’s marker was broken from its grave and set into a living wall, forcing passersby to brush past the shape of that person every time they entered the tower.

In St Francis' Abbey (KK019-026101-), Kilkenny. Reused as the northernmost lintel in the N ground floor passage of the crossing-tower, only the upper surface and dexter side are visible. The upper end of a tapering slab with raised edges. It is decorated with a cross in false relief, consisting of a large four-lobed cross-head and cross-arms, on either side of a raised cross-shaft, with trefoil terminals. The upper side of the exposed graveslab is chamfered, splaying inwardly. Stylistically this graveslab dates to the 13th/14th century. See attached photographs by Chris Corlett.
