Graveslab in Ardfert

Graveslab

What is recorded here

Graveslab in Ardfert is one of nine limestone slabs lying flat inside the Franciscan friary church, preserving names or memories that time has worn smooth. They mark buried people from an unknown era, waiting for a hand to trace their edges before forgetting them again.
National Monument No. 358. According to the 'Urban Archaeology Survey of County Kerry' (Bradley, Halpin and King n.d., 49), this is one of 'nine limestone slabs of undetermined date' which lie on the ground in the floor of the church of the Franciscan friary (KE020-047----).
