What is recorded here

Grave Yard in County Cork holds two ruined churches and centuries of buried life within a stone wall. The older parish church lies just south of centre, surrounded by low markers and a much-ruined table tomb, while the newer Marshalstown church stands broken in the northeast corner. People have continued placing the dead there into the twentieth century, suggesting the ground still feels like a proper threshold between living memory and forgotten time.

On E side of road. Roughly rectangular graveyard (c. 35m NNW-SSE; c. 65m WSW-ENE), enclosed by stone wall; entrance gate with stone piers to W. Ruins of C of I parish church of Marshalstown (14720) in NE corner; ruin of earlier parish church (14444) just S of centre. In occasional use; burials concentrated within and to S of earlier church; headstones noted of 19th- and 20th-century date though Buckley (1910-12) lists one of 1728; much-ruined table tomb within earlier church; many low uninscribed grave markers.
