Grave Yard at Derryco, County Kerry, holds a ruined church and thirty-seven marked graves inside a stone wall that once rose from marsh and estuary water. The flat land beside the Cashen River suggests the site stood like an island in earlier times, separating the dead from the living world through distance and damp air. Ten unmarked stones and exposed bones near the northern wall remind the visitor that the graveyard contains more than its inscribed plots.
