Grave Yard

In undulating terrain, on ground sloping to the N, in pastureland. This roughly rectangular graveyard (dims. 28m N-S; 40m E-W) is enclosed by a high 19th stone wall of limestone rubble, roughly coursed with a gate and stile at the E end of the N wall. Though the church is located centrally within the graveyard, it is located along the N side of a roughly square raised area (dims. 18m N-S; 21m E-W) defined by scarp (H 0.4m) which mostly extends S of the church. There are headstones within the church interior and in the SW quadrant of the graveyard. The graveyard wall appears to be 19th century in date, possible contemporary with an early 19th century vault which occupies the former chancel of the church. There is a 20th-century calvary monument in the NE quadrant of the graveyard. The graveyard was overgrown with very hummocky grass providing a very uneven surface at time of inspection.
