Grave Yard is a children's burial ground near Aughinish church in County Clare, Ireland. A boat-shaped area enclosed by drystone walling holds plain flat flags concentrated to the west, marking the small lives lost there. One undated adult headstone stands among them, reminding visitors that even childhood grief belongs to the whole village.
Listed as ‘Graveyard’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Situated near the W end of a very low E-W ridge in pasture, c. 230m ESE of Aughinish church (CL003-010001-). A boat-shaped area (int. dims. 29m E-W; max. 17.8m N-S) defined by single and sometimes double drystone walling. The visible graves are concentrated to W of centre and are marked by plain flat flags that probably commemorate children. One adult concrete headstone is undated.
