Interior having plastered ceiling with moulded panels having rosette to centre. Blocked window openings having timber sill and moulded surround. Located on raised podium having granite steps, rendered surface and granite block perimeter, accessed by pathway in landscaped surrounds. Set in centre of cemetery.
This pedimented open chapel, built to designs by Patrick Byrne, remains the centre-piece of Goldenbridge Cemetery, an early nineteenth-century garden cemetery. Drawing from classical references, the elegantly composed façades create a pleasing architectural composition. Despite suffering loss of fabric, the chapel, which recently underwent refurbishment works retains much noteworthy fabric. Located to the centre of the cemetery, addressing a raised granite-edged podium, the building is enhanced by the surrounding mature landscaping.
