Godfrey Quigley died in Dublin on 7 September 1994 after Alzheimer's disease erased the actor who had played prison chaplains, gangsters and Dalek invaders across four decades. The tragedy is not that he forgot his lines, but that the disease stole the very man who gave those lines life. Kubrick chose him because Quigley understood danger and dignity in the same breath, yet no camera can preserve the warmth behind that understanding.
