Detached eight-bay single- and two-storey former railway station, built 1893, comprising four-bay single-storey station block, with two-bay two-storey former worker's house to north-east and two-bay single-storey block to south-west. Now in use as recreational accommodation and offices. Recent central porch addition to front (north-west) and extensions to rear (south-east). Pitched artificial slate roof with red brick chimneystacks, terracotta ridge tiles and cast-iron and uPVC rainwater goods. Dormer window to two-storey block. Flemish bond red brick walls. Square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows and painted sills. Square-headed opening with pair of timber glazed double leaf doors, sidelights and overlight, having chamfered detailing. Platform to site. Detached L-shaped two-bay two-storey former station master's house to site, now in use as accommodation for the sailing centre and with irregular-plan extension. Pitched slate roofs, painted rendered walls, square-headed openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows and concrete sills.
This former railway station is a reminder of the extensive rail network which formerly existed in rural Ireland. Together with the signal, former master's house and goods shed this former station, this group once played an important social and economic role in the local area.
