Glamis Castle, Urn, is a garden urn recorded in Angus with an unassigned period, its exact point known to the nearest metre. The main castle towers nearby, but this small stone vessel belongs to the garden rather than the grand halls. It may have held flowers, marked a border or simply decorated a walk for people who never entered the castle at all. A forgotten urn can still be the clearest survivor of a lost garden because it resists the temptation to become a palace.
