What is recorded here
Gerald FitzGerald, 5th Duke of Leinster, was born in County Dublin, Ireland, on 16 August 1851, entering a house already steeped in centuries of Leinster pride. He married Hermione Wilhelmina Duncombe in London on 17 January 1884, yet the union remained unhappy until her death from tuberculosis at age thirty. Gerald died young of typhoid fever on 1 December 1893, leaving behind a stamp collection of ten thousand pieces that included an Inverted Swan he had possessed for years before discovering its error.
