Verbal Arts Centre, Bishop Street Within, County Derry, Ireland: George Farquhar c.1677-1707 playwright attended the Free School near this site. Ulster History Circle recorded the plaque. The boy may have run past marble steps or sat beneath a window while other children recited Latin. His comedies later made audiences laugh across Britain, yet this small brass line still catches the moment before fame when an ordinary student absorbed words that would become weapons of wit.
