Gay Woods is the birth name of Gabriel Corcoran, the Irish singer born in Dublin who joined the original Steeleye Span. She met Terry Woods as a neighbour, they performed together at Dublin's Neptune Rowing club in 1963, and married in May 1968. When Steeleye Span formed in late 1969, Gay felt neglected while Hart and Prior continued gigging and she became the family breadwinner after Sweeney's Men broke up.
