What is recorded here

Gateway, extant 1903, on a symmetrical plan. Reconstructed, 1930, producing present composition. Street fronted with concrete footpath to front.
A gateway surviving as an interesting relic of the Bishop's Water Distillery established (1827) by Nicholas Devereux (d. 1840): meanwhile, aspects of the composition illustrate the near-total reconstruction of the gateway as the entrance to the short-lived Pierce Bicycle Works (fl. 1930-40).

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
