What is recorded here
Gateway erected c. 1870 comprising cylindrical rubble stone piers, with conical cement rendered cap on slate course, and wrought strap-iron field gate.
A finely made wrought-iron field gate and rubble stone piers, an increasingly rare survival due to removal to provide access for modern farm operations and machinery. A good example of skilled local craftsmanship. Its significance is enhanced by the manufacturer’s name, J McKenna, on the gate.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
