Cally Palace Golf Course appeared in Gatehouse of Fleet during the 20th Century, shaping the local landscape by 1994. Green fairways and cultivated hazards replaced earlier ground, inviting people to walk, compete and watch the fleet water beyond the trees. The course still belongs to that human era of play and patience, even when quiet.
