What is recorded here

This pair of standing stones is situated towards the N edge of a sizable tract of blanket bog, S of Knocknadobar mountain. The stones are located in a small peat-cutting, 8.5m x 5m, which averages .8m deep. They stand 3.3m apart in a NE-SW line. The SW stone is 1.8m high and measures .98m x .28m at base; it inclines slightly to SE. The second stone leans very strongly to S, measuring 1.85m x .95m x at least .4m thick (Ó Nualláin 1988, 250). In the early decades of this century a number of features, described as 'stone graves', were uncovered beside the monument during peat-cutting (local information). No visible traces of these survive.
