What is recorded here

Gallaun is a 3.43 metre upright stone trapped inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, proving that human ambition repeatedly stacks new meanings onto older stone rather than erasing what already exists. The fort may have been built around the gallaun or beside it, but either choice admits that people keep returning to the same spot because the stone still speaks. Its visible packing stones and leaning slab show that it needed help to remain standing, yet it has outlived every hand that tried to adjust or explain it.
