What is recorded here
Children's burial ground in Inchafune is a vanished pasture site where local memory named a rough area for child deaths before men levelled it around 1986. The story is not a claim that children were buried there; it is a warning that innocence, fear and forgetting can move through a place faster than stone. What is lost is not the fact but the shape of the warning.
In pasture, on NW-facing slope. According to local information area of "rough ground" in small field known as "children's burial ground". Field fences removed and area levelled c. 1986.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
