What is recorded here

Gallaun stands 3.43 metres tall inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, forcing a collision between millennia because the prehistoric upright predates the later enclosure by centuries. Packing stones and a leaning slab hold its trapezoidal base steady above Bantry Bay, yet Chatterton still found it easy to shake in 1839. The fort may have claimed the stone or ignored it, but the stone still occupies the centre of the story.

In rough grazing with commanding views over Bantry Bay to S. Rectangular stone aligned NE-SW (H 3m; 1.1m x 0.6m).
