Gallán is a subrectangular standing stone, 1.7m high, hidden in an overgrown field fence in County Cork. It resisted mapping on both the 1842 and 1904 surveys, staying invisible to official record while remaining present in the land. That gap between chart and soil is the interesting part: a place large enough to measure, yet small enough to forget.
