Gallan is a subrectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 0.9 metres above tillage on a south-facing slope. Its NE-SW alignment catches afternoon light across a working field, suggesting people once read the landscape through this marker rather than burying it under soil. The stone still stands where plough lines bend around it, a quiet witness to seasons and forgetfulness.
