What is recorded here

Gallán is a lost standing stone in County Cork, not marked on early maps and possibly confused with a neighbouring stone. It may never have existed as recorded, or it may still stand buried under grass and time. Either way, the mistake reveals how easily places vanish when memory and measurement separate.

In rough grazing, on slight S-facing slope. No visible surface trace. Since stone is not shown on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps it is possible that its location was confused with that of standing stone (6768) in adjoining field to E.
