What is recorded here

Gallán stood alone beside the Brouen River in County Cork, visible on maps by 1943 but erased before modern records closed. Whether it marked a boundary, a burial or a river crossing, people once recognized it enough to keep it standing through changing ownership and pasture work. Its removal left no scar, only absence, which is often how ordinary stones vanish: not with drama, but because living around them stopped requiring them to be seen.
