Gallán is a two-and-a-half-metre rectangular standing stone on a west-facing pasture slope in County Cork, its long axis pointing north-south. It has watched herds graze and storms pass for centuries, steady as a buried spine. People may have gathered there to mark seasons, honor ancestors, or simply rest beside its smooth presence. The stone asks nothing but notice, and gives back time measured in patience rather than years.
