Gallán

In tillage. Depicted as single standing stone and named Dallaun, Gallaun and Gallán on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps respectively. Site heavily overgrown; three stones visible. According to Hartnett (PJH), three stones form a triangle; tallest stone (L 1.72m; Wth 0.88m; T 0.3m) at apex of triangle has fallen; second and third stones (H 0.96m; Wth 0.86m; T 0.35m: H 1.12m; Wth 1.06m; T 0.45m) are 3.2m apart and each 2.5m from apex stone. Ringfort (CO060-149001-) c. 60m to WNW in corner of field. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
