What is recorded here
Galláin is a pair of standing stones in County Cork pasture, aligned northeast to southwest beside the Laney River. The taller northeast stone reaches 1.2m, the shorter southwest stone 1.05m, and they face each other across 1.1m of grass. They may have marked a boundary, a meeting place, or a warning about the river’s moods. Whatever they measured, they still hold their line while the water and seasons change around them.
In pasture, on NE side of Laney River valley. Stones, aligned NE-SW, stand 1.1m apart; overall length is 2.5m. NE stone is 0.65m L, 0.4m T and 1.2m H. SW stone is 0.65m L, 0.35m T and 1.05m H. (O Nualláin 1988, 242, no. 83)

Probably dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, the pair of standing stones at Galláin may have functioned as a boundary marker or ritual alignment, possibly linked to riverine or seasonal movement patterns. No specific folklore is recorded, but such paired stones often feature in local traditions as "fairy paths" or ancient memorials.
