Galgorm Castle rose in County Antrim in 1618 for Sir Faithful Fortescue, presenting some of the finest early Jacobean architecture in Ireland. Fortescue sold it in 1645, releasing the house into other hands and other dangers while its boundaries later shaped the townland still called Galgorm.
