Fulacht fia in Treannaskehy

Located on the N bank of a stream/drain, in lowlying, reclaimed pastureland. This fulacht fia was discovered in 2002 during field walking adjacent to the route of the Lough Mask Regional Water Supply Scheme (2001-2002) (Guinan 2015, 107, Treannaskehy IV). When first noted, the fulacht fia was visible as a compact, grass-covered horseshoe-shaped mound (9m E–W; 12m N–S; H 0.75m). Inspected again in 2012, it was found that the mound had been levelled during land reclamation works. It is evident as a surface spread of burnt stone and charcoal, marked by differential vegetation cover. There is a burnt mound (MA112-116----) c. 110m to N.
