Melt butter, boil venison, render tallow or heat stones for bath water. These are practical uses people have given fulachtaí. The lost kitchen may have done all of them.

In reclaimed land. Broker (1937, 16) recorded a fulacht fiadh on Thomas Barret's land 'nearly as big as a fort'. Location known locally; no visible surface trace.
