What is recorded here

Hot stones screamed when water struck them, filling the air above the marsh with steam and the smell of wet earth. People gathered there to cook or cleanse, using heat instead of fire in the pot. The road builders destroyed much of the site in 1960, but a grass-covered spread of burnt material still marks the place beside the old wedge tomb.

In marshy, rough grazing c.100m N of wedge tomb (CO093-05202-), largely destroyed in 1960 due to road metalling in the past (UCC). Spread of burnt material, now grass covered, remains.
