Fulacht fia in Cloonnafinneela — Report the wrong picture

Cloonnafinneela holds a fulacht fia buried inside the ditch of a ringfort on a north-facing slope in County Kerry. Heat-shattered stone and black earth still mark the spot where water was boiled for food, cleaning or ritual. The chamber may have served the fortress or hidden beside it, but the stones record repeated heat and human presence.

In pasture, on a N-facing slope. In the course of archaeological fieldwork carried out in 1985, possible fulacht fia material comprising of black earth and heat shattered stone was noted in the fosse of a ringfort (KE022-026----) at WNW. Compiled by: Matt Kelleher Date of upload: 28 February 2014
