Fulacht fia in Carhoobeg

Four mounds, located in a marshy field on the W bank of the River Laune, were levelled in the 1950s during land reclamation operations. The landowner recalled that they were composed of stone. The presence of scatters of burnt stone in the field suggests that they may have been fulachta fiadh. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
