Fulacht fia in Brookhill

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

This site, known locally as a cooking place, was levelled by ploughing around the 1960s. It consisted of a mound of shattered stone and was located in poor land, close to the W bank of Tullynascally stream. There is no longer any visible trace of the monument. A short distance to S, in an adjoining townland, two other such sites (KE065-035---- & KE065-036----) were also levelled at this time. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 406. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 28 July 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
