Hot stones cracked and hissed inside the shallow trough while people waited for supper. Water from the nearby stream filled the pit, vegetables softened in the heat, and steam rose through the wet Kerry air. The mound still marks that small kitchen, preserved beside the road in Bealagrellagh.

'This small fulacht fiadh is located in an area of extensive wetlands in the townland of Bealagrellagh, adjacent to the modern roadway anf running along the banks of a small stream. The site is located in the centre of a small irregular shaped field and consists of a small, generally circular mound 5.3m in diameter with a trough measuring 3.1m by 2m opening to the south - south-west.
