Bealagrellagh holds a lost fulacht fia and possible ringfort hidden inside a marshy field opposite Bealagrellagh Castle. In 1948 the Kerry Field Club found burnt stone, bone fragments and iron ore after ploughing exposed what growth had concealed. The site may still breathe beneath grass, water and forgotten soil, waiting for someone willing to look twice.

The precise location of a possible ringfort (KE039-150001-) and fulacht fia in the townland of Bealagrellagh recorded in the Minute Book of County Kerry Field Club 05/06/1948 has not been identified. It was recorded in 1948 that this possible rath is in a marshy field on the opposite side of the road to Bealagrellagh Castle (KE039-004----) (MCKFC) but its precise location is not known. The Kerry Field Club recorded the following details ' passing by the old castle at Ballymacthomas they noticed that the marshy field at the far side of the road had been ploughed. They observed in the centre what appeared to be the remains of a dug out fort in the middle, this had previously passed unnoticed as it was hidden by a growth of .....? Having time on hands they went into the field to investigate and found that it was indeed a fort and perhaps an important one. There were great quantities of burnt stone broken small as well as fragments of bones and several lumps of iron ore'. Could be a duplicate site with KE039-210---.
