Fulacht fia in Ballyman

Ballyman holds a fulacht fia eighty metres from the church, where heated stones and water likely prepared food or baths before Christianity arrived. The site emerged during excavation rather than standing proud in landscape, suggesting people worked that ground repeatedly enough to leave a shape worth recovering. It is easy to imagine steam rising near a place later devoted to prayer, as if domestic heat and sacred attention shared one valley.
