What is recorded here
No stones remain, no ditch, no burnt ridge. The land was drained, reseeded, and the fulacht fia erased. A standing stone once marked the area north of the site. It is gone too. What is left is a coordinate and a absence.
This is site no. 30 in Clare McMorran's thesis (NUIG). The area described in the report has been reclaimed, drained and re-seeded. No trace of the fulacht fia was found at ground level. The report also states: 'A single standing stone was recorded just north of this site however, no trace of it could be found during the visit'. The standing stone referred to is KE044-036---- and is marked as 'Gallaun' on the OS map and it is now gone. However, it gives a general location area for this fulacht fia and also for sites 31 and 32. No precise location could be identified for this fulacht fia.
