Frank Deasy was born in Artane, Dublin, on 19 May 1959, and died in Edinburgh on 17 September 2009 after living much of his adult life in Glasgow. He wrote Prime Suspect, The Passion, Father & Son and Prozac Nation, won an Emmy, and used his own cancer diagnosis to urge Irish people to request organ donor cards. A child carer from Dublin who became an international screenwriter, he left behind dramas about fathers, sons, faith and the bodies people refuse to see.
