FRANCISCAN FRIARY (site of) & GRAVEYARD: CLOUGOLIMOC, NUNS GARDEN

What is recorded here

Clougolimoc, Nuns Garden in Lambeg North, County Antrim, Ireland, holds the buried line of a Franciscan friary and graveyard stretching from the medieval period through the seventeenth century. The name suggests women tended gardens beside men who prayed, though no surviving account confirms that arrangement. Dirt, root and bone have mixed there long enough to make the boundary between living and dead forget itself.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as FRANCISCAN FRIARY (site of) & GRAVEYARD: CLOUGOLIMOC, NUNS GARDEN. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL; POST-MED; C17TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Medieval Franciscan friary and graveyard; significant as a religious and burial site associated with the Franciscan Order in Northern Ireland.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
