Francesco Geminiani died in County Dublin, Ireland on 17 September 1762 after a servant stole a cherished musical manuscript. The sudden loss may have broken his spirit, ending the life of a violinist once ranked beside Handel and Corelli. He left behind students who shaped English music and a masonic bridge between Italy and England, but he departed Dublin vexed, his body later carried home to Lucca.
