FOUR STANDING STONES, possibly remains of MEGALITHIC TOMB

What is recorded here

Four standing stones in Clagan, County Derry, may be the remains of a megalithic tomb from the prehistoric period. They still point toward the buried chamber even though earth and time have taken most of the structure. People may have gathered there to mark death, season or ownership of the land. The stones keep that purpose hidden, but they still occupy the field like a sentence broken in half.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as FOUR STANDING STONES, possibly remains of MEGALITHIC TOMB. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
Possible remains of a prehistoric megalithic tomb, potentially dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. The site is significant as a rare surviving example of megalithic architecture in the region, though its exact function and date remain uncertain.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
