Castlecary East Basin sat beside the Forth and Clyde Canal as a working wharf where heavy goods left the water and entered the living town. The basin still belongs to Falkirk, though no date or owner appears in the public record. It may have smelled of tar, river mud and hot tea, with men arguing about weight while carts waited at its edge.
