Beneath the floor of St Audeon's medieval parish church in County Dublin, a square font waited for centuries until workers uncovered it in 1848. Its central drum column rises through semi-circular panels decorated with shell designs and bead ornamentation, while the date 1192 remains incised in Arabic numerals. The vessel likely baptized children long before the building above it changed shape, carrying clean water through darkness and time.

Within St Audeon's medieval parish church (DU018-02075----) is a font dating from the late 12th century, found beneath the floor of the church in 1848. This is a large square font with a central drum-shaped column. The sides are decorated with semi-circular panels containing shell designs in false relief with bead ornamentation.
