Font in Killybegs Demesne

Font

What is recorded here

Killybegs Demesne lost its fifteenth-century baptismal font to the church in Prosperous village, where the stone basin still holds water for new life. The font left Killybegs rather than the memory leaving the font, suggesting that sacred things often belong in the hands that keep using them.
According to Comerford (1866, 78), a 15th century baptismal font was taken from the church (KD013-019002-) and is now at the church in Prosperous village (KD013-014----). Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011
