Half a metre deep and a metre long, the granite font sits south of St. John's Anglican church in Clondalkin. Its north face is smooth and proud, but the south remains rough, with a hidden channel running inside the rim. Water may have flowed through that channel for centuries, carrying baptism into memory while the church above changed hands and names.

To the S of St. John's Anglican church is a rectangular granite font (dims. L 1.2m x Wth 0.95m x D 0.6m) with a dressed N face and an irregular S face with a channel inside the rim (Ball 1899, 98).
